David Miller was an REA on board between 1952 & 1954
Cathy Kinnon, David's daughter, has forwarded some more information about her father William David "Dusty" Miller
She says. " Dad was born on 23 June,1932 and he joined the navy in Sept 1948 where he did a 4 year apprenticeship to become a REA 5.
His first ship was the Superb which he joined in 1952. He was on it when the ship came home for the Coronation Review. Not sure how long he was on it, but we have just come across some brief diaries of his time on board. Any juicy bits and I'll let you know!!
He was a Dad to 5, Grandfather to 12 and Great Grandfather to 3. He had one younger brother who also joined the navy".

This was posted on Facebook by Colin’s son Gordon. Unfortunately despite several requests Gordon hasn’t responded so we don’t have any further details or a contact. I have a record of a McKay (no first name) who was an ERA on board between 1952 & 53.
."My late Father Colin McKay served on the HMS Superb 1/1/53 -11/12/53 and again 12/12/53-12/5/54 he was a Boilermaker and CPO."

Jim was a stoker on board between 1945 & 1948 . His wife and daughter helped in suppling details and some photos of Jim
Margaret, Jim's wife says "During his service he was extremely friendly with Norman Newman who crossed the bar a few years before Jim. Norman came from Durham and many of the anecdotes that Jim would regale us with involved Norman. They lost touch after leaving the service but met up again 50 years later! There followed a few years of laughter when Norman would come to us or we would go to him. Happy days I informed the Superb Association run by Fred Kinsey of the passing of both Jim and Norman."
DAVID NORMAN
We have been informed by Mike the son of Dave (Nobby) Norman that his father crossed the bar on 1st August in Canberra, Australia.
Dave was on the East Africa cruise and served on board as a R.E.A. between 15th February, 1956 and 19th September, 1957.
